Curve Film Club presents HUMMINGBIRDS filmmakers Silvia Del Carmen Castaños and Jillian Schlesinger in conversation with Chelsea Hernandez.

The conversation will focus on art and activism in response to changes in reproductive justice & immigration rights through the lens of the film.

In HUMMINGBIRDS, Silvia and Beba tell their own coming-of-age story, transforming their hometown on the Texas-Mexico border into a wonderland of creative expression and activist hijinks. Their cinematic self-portrait celebrates the power of friendship and joy as tools of survival and resistance. The film won the Grand Prix at Berlinale in 2023 and can be streamed on PBS and The Criterion Channel.
