SHORT DOCUMENTARY | FESTIVALS

Meet Babs, a quirky, self-effacing optimistic octogenarian speed racing through life, one five-year plan at a time.

Like a modern day Maude from HAROLD AND MAUDE, Babs moves through life at breakneck speed. She spars with her ex over her 5-year plan for relationships, admitting to a reputation for always having her vibrator. She lap-dances at a party celebrating the 41st anniversary of her 39th birthday, threatening to kick anyone who says “80” out the door. A trip to the AIDS memorial grove on the heels of aquacise class at the Jewish Community Center sparks a glorious rumination on a possible afterlife.

More than 100 million Americans are 50 or older, and let’s face it, we all want to live life on our terms as we age. Enter Babs, the living, breathing poster child for what the golden years can—and should—be. She’s here to prove that aging doesn’t mean slowing down; it can mean cranking up the fun, embracing your quirks, and loving life even harder.

Babs is the grandmother you wish you had (and let’s be real, maybe the one you wish you could be). She’s got this effortless blend of sass, wisdom, and a healthy dose of humor that makes her downright irresistible. You’ll find yourself cracking up at her hilarious stories, while simultaneously having your heart stolen by her authenticity and joy for life.

Babs proves that life only gets better with age. Forget about those stereotypical “senior moments”—she’s too busy taking names, breaking stereotypes (you bet she knows what TikTok is), and showing the world that being a senior doesn’t have to mean being over the hill.

So, buckle up, because with Babs, the golden years aren’t just about slowing down—they’re about living with more heart, more laughter, and more unapologetic fun than you ever thought possible. Get ready to be charmed, inspired, and maybe even just a little bit jealous of her zest for life.
